New Urban Jungle Cityscapes by PMILLER

Visit www.millermodernart.comto see all our new products. Drop us a note if you have questions or comments!

Living in a city can be an intense, spontaneous experience. They pulse with light and activity. Cities are industrious and busy by day. At night, their mystery and lushness come alive. A city can stimulation your passion and all of your senses. In my cityscapes, I try to capture the electric colors, stunning skylines and interesting architecture that can be found when visiting an urban jungle.
These paintings have wonderful pastel and jewel hues. You’ll get a hint of whimsy, however, I’ve added stark black lines and metallic/ neon acrylic paints to give them a modern edgy feel. My Urban Jungle paintings have been described as “Modern impressionism with a twist”, and as” Colorful, Bold and Joyful!”.

Watercolor Abstract

Yupo is a synthetic paper - and watercolor floats on top. As it the water dries, the pigment swirls and settles in very unique patterns.

After applying a variety of colors - including gold I let the it dry flat. After a lot of time studying the results, I decided it looked a like an abstract river bottom.

Paint removes very easily on Yupo - so I began to follow the patterns I saw and with a wet brush, removed areas of paint to create the ripples and bubbling water, swirling around rocks on the bottom of a creek.

Yupo has to be sealed - so I sprayed it with a Krylon sealant and this is the final result. An abstract watercolor!

It's 9"x11" and available in my store.

Happy Hour Giclee Prints by PMILLER

Visit www.millermodernart.comto see all our new products. Drop us a note if you have questions or comments!

Limited Edition Giclee is hand embelished, signed and numbered by me. It is 11 x 14 and can be presented either mounted or rolled. Please allow 2 weeks for shipping because of the customization. Certificate of Authenticity, Artist Bio and Current Gallery List Price Included. Here are a few examples of what we have available:

"Happy Hour"

seascapes, boats, acrylic, canvas, original

"A Magical Happy Hour"

abstract, streets, buildings, oranges, original

Inspiration: I love little towns and water scenes. Sunset or "happy hour" is my favorite time of day. Happy Hour is when you begin to feel at peace, kick your feet up, sip wine and enjoy the beauty of a transition into night. My Happy Hour Series is hypnotic because as the day transitions into evening, these paintings go from light airy gold into deep rich copper. Each painting has layers of colors and metallic giving it a textured feeling of depth and detail.

Featured Artists July at Gallery 9

BIRDS by Christine Wasankari and Sarah Leonard.
July’s Featured Artists for Gallery 9
Opening at the July Port Townsend Art walk
July 5th, from 5:00-8:00pm

Christine Wasankari and Sarah Leonard are showing an array of vibrant paintings and sterling silhouette jewelry about birds. What started this theme? Both artists love birds and bright colors.

Christine Wasankari "History" Mixed Media

Christine loves working in mixed media. She uses hand made papers, found objects sandy textures and loves to experiment. It's like playing with paints when we were all little, only now no one can tell her to quit being so messy. :-)

Christine’s paintings are bright and rich like a blue jay, fun like a kingfisher and witty like a crow. Inspiration from living amongst the trees at the edge of the Olympic Foresthas also prompted the desire to paint our feathered folk.

Christine Wasankari - "Never Meant to Be" Mixed Media

Sarah Leonared - Sterling Silver Neclace

Sarah Leonard work reflects the fun silhouettes and shapes of birds. She enjoys looking and listening to birds everyday. Trying to reflect the nature of the birds in silver by using accent stones for the eyes, cutting out the silhouette, texturing the wings and tail on both sides to create an enjoyable and wearable piece.

Sarah Leonared - Sterling Silver Neclace and Earrings

Reception coincides with gallery walk from 5 to 8 on July tth and continues through the month of July. Gallery 9 is located at 1012 Water Street, Port Townsend, WA. 360.379.3381

New Vacation Series Seascape by PMILLER

Here is my latest painting in the vacation series. I will be discussing the evolution of this series (in addition, later I will be discussing the evolution of my other series Kung Foo Circle Series). Both I originally started 5 years ago as a hobby and now that I am painting full time, all of my paintings have begun to evolve adding more metallics(in different colors), slight changes to the basic feel of the series and more. If you've watched my work for awhile on a casual basis, you are probably nodding your head saying, "Yeah I was wondering why in the series, I see paintings that vary a little in style/feel AND why some of the series is available only in prints". Now you know!(or my customers who follow me are saying, "I knew that!" because they own the original).

Mystical Morning

seascapes, boats, acrylic, canvas, original

Buy or View

This series is inspired by my love of taking tropical vacations. Vivid tropical colors with deposits of metallics like gold, silver and copper make these paintings full of light and energy. Indulge your senses. Be able to relive your favorite vacations (or be inspired by mine). The paintings in this series are done in both acrylics on canvas and watercolor/mixed-media on heavy watercolor paper.
